Hello dear posting members!
This month we finally got around to audit our server, software, and our data. We've found a few issues and have addressed them. A few behind the scene, and a few on the front end.
Behind the scene we have upgraded our forum software to the latest releases which fixed a few security issues. We've checked our records and nobody their account was compromised, so we're on top of things.
We've also increased security for our staff and our private directories. This should help prevent automated scripts abusing our awesome web site at least. Staff account compromise possibility has been reduced to 10%.
On the front end (what you see) we have updated our forum software, you might not notice it but a security patch avoids someone who might know your email from compromising your account. Our records indicate this has not happened on our site.
Also, we have checked which of our members used their username as their password, around 10 people. We've taken the time to contact all users and generate a new password for their account. If this was you, you should have an email, if not .. please contact our staff, maybe your email was out of date. Again, our records indicate no account was compromised. From today on it is also no longer possible on this site to use your username as your password. That's a good thing.
Ok, I thought this was worth mentioning just in case someone goes 'hey, is that email real?' And if they were wondering how on top of things we are.
Thank you for your visits to our site, and for signing up and posting. We love to keep you here, so we take security serious.
